2019 Qualifier Registration

The FTC Louisiana Planning Committee has determined it best to process qualifier registrations for this season’s four qualifying events slightly differently this time around, and we’re writing to explain the new process. There is quite a bit of information to digest, so please read carefully.

As some teams may be waiting for grant determinations prior to paying their State and/or National registration, we will process registration requests regardless of a team’s registration status. Although we will process registration requests for unregistered teams, it is a FIRST requirement that to participate in a Qualifying Tournament, the team must be “Event Ready.” To be “Event Ready,” the following must be true: 

• The $275 FIRST annual registration fee has been paid.
• Two adult coaches are registered with FIRST and have been screened by the FIRST system (through the Dashboard at www.firstinspires.org).
• There are no outstanding tasks listed on the FIRST Dashboard.

Please note, some of the bulleted tasks above could take longer than a week to complete, so please plan accordingly and start early.

If both National and State registrations are not paid and posted at least one week prior to the event a team is registered for, that spot will be released to the next available team that originally requested that event. If no additional teams applied or choose not to compete, the spot may be offered to interested teams in a random drawing, for an additional fee.

The dates and locations for this year’s qualifiers are as follows:

• Qualifier 1:  November 9, 2019, Destrehan High School, Destrehan, LA
  24 spots for this qualifier – we expect to advance 5 teams to state if all spots are filled
• Qualifier 2: December 7, 2019, W.D. Mary Baker Career Center in Lafayette, LA
  24 spots for this qualifier – we expect to advance 5 teams to state if all spots are filled
• Qualifier 3:    January 11, 2020, the Dunham School, Baton Rouge, LA
  18 spots for this qualifier – we expect to advance 4 teams to state if all spots are filled
• Qualifier 4:    February 1, 2020, Northshore High School, Slidell, LA
  24 spots for this qualifier – we expect to advance 6 teams to state if all spots are filled

Registration for this season’s qualifiers will be completed in waves using the following schedule.

First Choice:

• Friday September 27, 2019 – 12:00 PM – 1^st Qualifier Preference Google form Opens
• Wednesday October 2, 2019 – 6:00 PM – 1^st Qualifier Preference Google form Closes
• Thursday October 3, 2019 – 10:00 PM – 1^st Qualifier Selections Emailed to Coaches

Second Choice:

• Friday October 4, 2019 – 12:00 PM – 2^nd Qualifier Preference Google form Opens
• Wednesday October 9, 2019 – 6:00 PM – 2^nd Qualifier Preference Google form Closes
• Thursday October 10, 2019 – 10:00 PM – 2^nd Qualifier Selections Emailed to Coaches

Third Choice:

• Friday October 11, 2019 – 12:00 PM – 3^rd Qualifier Preference Google form Opens
• Wednesday October 16, 2019 – 6:00 PM – 3^rd Qualifier Preference Google form Closes
• Thursday October 17, 2019 – 10:00 PM – 3^rd Qualifier Selections Emailed to Coaches

If a Google Form says it is *no longer accepting responses*, it will mean we have not made the form active yet, or the deadline has passed. The forms will each be open for 126 hours from the Friday start to the Wednesday deadline.
