1. Kickoff follow-up
I want to thank our teams for making our 3rd Louisiana Kickoff event a really high-energy one.  The excitement level was high, our workshop presenters, Head Ref, and volunteers did a wonderful job, and I think we all left ready to start a great season.
2. Game manuals, updates, Q&A, forum
Materials are being posted on the FIRST Tech Challenge website.  The first update to Game Manual Part 1 filled in the Awards and judging information, so you’ll want to check that out.  Remember to check that website regularly for updates to the manuals (check the updated dates next to the document links).

There’s also a link from that page with instructions on registering for the FTC Forum, where the official Q&A forum will open soon for official rules clarifications, corrections, updates, etc.  The site also has an open forum for team-to-team discussions.
3. Field assembly – **  wait! **

Coaches, we’re advised to hold off on putting together our field sets, as there may be an update to the Lander assembly instructions after feedback from the kickoffs  It was suggested to tell you to go ahead and tap the churros, for what that’s worth.  Keep an eye out for an update about that, probably in the next few days.
4. Calendar

Here’s what we have on the calendar right now.  The February and March dates are target dates subject to change.
September 22:  Jumpstart Build at Hammond High, Hammond
October 27:    Scrimmage (Dark Matter at Salmen High, Slidell)
December 1:    Qualifier 1 at Destrehan High
January 12:    Qualifier 2 at the Dunham School (Baton Rouge)
February 2:    Qualifier 3 at TBD (New Orleans area)
March 16: Regional Championship at TBD
5. Qualifiers

I’m projecting we’ll have 30+ teams registered in Louisiana again this year.  Offering every team two Qualifier entries means those three events will be about as large as we’d like.
If you see a likely date on the calendar where your school could offer to host an event, email me with your suggested date and and we can explore adding to our calendar.
We will probably run our qualifier registration in October as we did last year – a random draw for team order, then a serpentine placement based on team preferences.  I’ll send details out with the call for your preferences when the time comes.
